Colourful Diwali with Rangoli at Bhartiyam International School .. All the people of BIS waited very eagerly for the most important and favorite festival of Diwali. And this time there was a complete festive bustle all around the premises as an inter-house rangoli and craft making competition was conducted specially for teachers. The competition started up at 7:45 am and lasted in an hour. Each of the four houses was divided into two groups. First one for rangoli making while the later for craft making. Rangoli is derived from the Sanskrut word ‘rangavalli’. Rangoli is an art which precedes sculpture and painting. It is both an auspicious and a preliminary necessity in any religious ritual. The two aims of drawing rangoli are revelation of beauty and the acquisition of auspiciousness. The forms drawn in the rangoli are symbolic. A curved line produces a better effect of beauty than a straight one. And the teachers presented the same through the various designs of their rangolies. And then there was craft presentation ‘best out of waste’ which enhanced the glory of the festival as there were made a wide range of crafts like lamp, wall hanging, lantern, candle stand, corner stand, pooja thali, etc, all made of wasted material like newspaper, cds, thread, card board, jute rope, earthen pots, plastic spoons, fruit baskets, etc. Since it was a competition so there were two winner houses. Astro Arya won the competition for making wonderful rangoli while Caramine Vincian won for its magnificent crafts. Meanwhile a ‘Hawan’ was also done by the whole bhartiyam family including the respected directors Mr. Bharat Goel and Mr. Gurjeet Singh Kamra with their families. The event ended up with a scrumptuous lunch and best wishes for a better future.
